Goose Decoys > Ducks > What does the phrase “If the curtains match the sheets” or “If the curtains match the carpet” mean?

What does the phrase “If the curtains match the sheets” or “If the curtains match the carpet” mean?

Question by Kelly: What does the phrase “If the curtains match the sheets” or “If the curtains match the carpet” mean?
Some guy called me a fag*t yesterday. As far as I know he meant it in an insulting way and not in a homosexual way. I told him I wasn’t not gay and he answered back “If the curtains match the sheets(or carpet, I can’t remember).”

Is that like the phrase “If you walk like a duck and quack like a duck…”? Or did it mean something else?

Thanks for your help. =)

first off, saying that phrase had absolutely no relevance to calling you that name. I’m sorry you had to deal with such a miscreant.

I’ll put this as…nicely… as possible. The phrase “The curtains match the carpet” means to ask if your hair color is the same on your head and…well, down there.

I think it is meant something like “if the cap fits, wear it”, or it could be “like father, like son”.
Either way I think he was trying to insult you.
BUT, if you don’t know the meaning , then his insult was lost.
