Ducks are animals. So are dogs and cats. Depends on how much respect you have for waterfowl, whether or not you find this positive or negative.

    In America? I always thought this was limited to Northern England as a generic affectionate term.

    Considering it’s slang, it depends on where you live. Different states/cities/schools/people have adopted different meanings for it.

    As far as what I think if I heard someone calling someone else a duck, either (1) they have big lips or (2) they’re stupid and/or annoying.
