What is tunnel vision?

Tunnel vision occurs when you are overly focused on a single object. It usually happens when you are engaged with a particular paintball opponent.

Tunnel vision is all about instincts, and is deep routed in our evolutionary survival skills. We are naturally programmed to give our full attention to a potential danger. And this is usually a good thing. But in paintball, it can be a problem.

Avoiding Getting Locked out of your Home and Car

September 5th, 2011 Comments off

Getting locked out of the house has happened to most people at least once in their lives. At best, it’s an embarrassing and rather expensive goof; at worst, this situation can leave a person outside in harsh weather without proper clothing, or separated from young children who should not be left alone in the home.

Thankfully, there are several easy steps that one can take to minimize the chances of being locked out of the home. The most obvious is to keep a

How is everyone’s day going so far?

August 26th, 2011 4 comments

Question by StiLL Da BaddeST: How is everyone’s day going so far?
I got a funny….

A cop was staked out in front of a bar. He had a bad day and was in the mood to ruin somebody’s good time. About 15 minutes before closing time, he saw a gentleman stagger out of the bar and lean against the wall for a minute, obviously too drunk to even get to his car. The Cop thought, “This is the one I want. As soon as this guy gets behind the wheel of his car, I’m gonna ruin his day.”

To the cop’s dismay, the guy just sank to the ground, trying to catch his breath. “That’s O.K., I’m patient. As soon as he gets in the car, he’s mine…”

During the wait, all the other people exited the bar, got in their cars, and drove away. By now, the cop wanted this one guy bad for making him wait.

The lights in the bar went out. The guy finally got up, walked slowly to his car, and got in. The Cop immediately hit his lights and pulled the poor guy out into the street.

“I know an alcoholic when I see one,” The cop said. “Take this breathalizer test and I’ll get you to a nice cold cell to spend the night”.

The guy took the test. The Cop read the meter.

Blood Alcohol Level —– 0.00

The cop stared at the results. “That’s impossible!!! Do it again !!!”

Blood Alcohol Level —– 0.00

“I can’t believe it!!!” the cop yelled, “How did you do that???”

The gentleman responded, “Tonight, I’m the Designated Decoy”……

Q&A: Need new songs/ help with band name?

Question by smileitslydia :) : Need new songs/ help with band name?
So, the guys and my band (we keep changing names but right now we are “my decoy”..i kinda HATE it..so if you have any names give em to me :) ) are looking for some more variety, it is the spice of life after all, for an upcoming set at a COFFEE SHOP…so nothing like hardcore…..We mainly cover stuff like the maine, paramore, fall out boy, wheatus, thursday, panic at the disco, kaiser chiefs, all time low, light blink ( 182 ), and a little hey monday ( The only one we do is basically candles)….thanks guys!

we need new songs to play…acoustic or electric, but it IS a coffee shop so acoustic songs would be prefferable, but any songs reccommendations would be nice!

P.S do you like the band name …. (remember that for the moment it is “My Decoy”) ….if ANYONE has any ideas that would be great
I do know that i spelled ( or spelt?) a TON of words wrong….( leave me alone! I’ve been up till 3 this whole last week writing for a hopeful EP )
we used to be called always on display…do you like that or My Decoy?

“Spying is Sexy It’s OK to Spy on your Mate

August 24th, 2011 Comments off

“Spying is Sexy It’s OK to Spy on your Mate

(PRWEB) March 14, 2005

We see too many shows and moviesÂ?and music videosÂ?advocating infidelity. Many men and women alike have the notion that Â?playingÂ? is acceptableÂ?hell, even cool. Â?Not the case. Oh, and for those of you who feel it is only limited to the downtrodden and unattractive, think again.

Dyana Barnes, an educated, attractive and classy black woman, was the victim of a manÂ?s infidelity. After thinking she knew said person for twenty years, she was enlightened by his significant other and had her eyes opened the hard way.

We see plenty of cases where womenÂ?particularly Black and Latina womenÂ?kick their menÂ?s butts and mess up their cars upon realizing they are being two-timed. Even worse, many people who realize they are unwillingly sharing the same lover decide to fight each other, forgetting that the blame lies in the person who was unfaithful (yes, ladies, we see a lot of this in ourselves). The aforementioned behavior is not that of Dyana Barnes. This strong black woman decided to take matters in her own hands, and instead of becoming bitter and closing herself off to love again, she decided to add another career title to her booming role as an AccountantÂ?she started her own boutique investigative agency, specializing in background checks on spouses and significant others.

Today, Dyana has a team of expert Investigators, Decoys and Relationship Counselors willing to help people check up on their loved ones and work through the mental anguish of realizing they are not the only ones. Â?ItÂ?s practicalÂ?no one is telling you not to love and trust someone. But, you should trust your intuition, and before committing yourself blindly, there is nothing wrong with checking up on someoneÂ?, says Dyana.

Dyana Barnes, a proud single mother and strong advocate for womenÂ?s issues (she uses her strength and education to mentor survivors of domestic violence), believes she should use her experience positively and assist women in becoming stronger and more informed. For more information on Dyana Barnes and her outstanding work, please contact me at the above referenced numbers.

Do you want to hear a dirty joke?

August 24th, 2011 11 comments

Question by ENERGY DRINKZ!!!!!!!!: Do you want to hear a dirty joke?
Probably not how about a clean one? Ok.

1
I went to the store the other day. I was only in there for about five minutes, and when I came out there was a motorcycle cop writing a parking ticket. So I went up to him and said, ‘Come on buddy, how about giving a guy a break?’

He ignored me and continued writing the ticket. So I called him a stupid idiot. He glared at me and started writing another ticket for having bald tires!

Then I really got angry at him. He finished the second ticket and put it on the car with the first. Then he started writing a third ticket!

This went on for about 20 minutes. The more I abused him, the more tickets he wrote. I didn’t care. My car was parked around the corner.

2
One night a police officer was staking out a particularly rowdy bar for possible DUI violations. At closing time, he saw a fellow stumble out of the bar, trip on the curb and try his keys on five different cars before he found his. The man sat in the front seat fumbling around with his keys for several minutes.

Meanwhile, all the other patrons left the bar and drove off. Finally he started his engine and began to pull away. The police officer was waiting for him. As soon as he pulled onto the street, the officer stopped him, read him his rights and administered the breathalyzer test to determine his blood-alcohol content.

The results showed a reading of 0.0.

The puzzled officer demanded to know how that could be. The driver replied, “Tonight I’m the designated decoy.”

3
A police officer pulls over this guy who’s been weaving in and out of the lanes.

He goes up to the guy’s window and says, “Sir, I need you to blow into this breathalyzer tube.”

The man says, “Sorry, officer, I can’t do that. I am an asthmatic. If I do that, I’ll have a really bad asthma attack.”

“Okay, fine. I need you to come down to the station to give a blood sample.”

“I can’t do that either. I am a hemophiliac. If I do that, I’ll bleed to death.”

“Well, then, we need a urine sample.”

“I’m sorry, officer, I can’t do that either. I am also a diabetic. If I do that, I’ll get really low blood sugar.”

“All right, then I need you to come out here and walk this white line.”

“I can’t do that, officer.”

“Why not?”

“Because I’m drunk.”

Ice Fishermen Prepare for New Season

Ice Fishermen Prepare for New Season

Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) October 29, 2005

Ice fishing is the sport or ritual of catching fish with a line or spear through an aperture in the ice. The fisherman may stand or sit near the opening in the frozen water, often sheltered by a crude cabin.

Ice fishing is especially popular in Canada, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Russia, Europe, and the US. American states best-known for their ice fishing lakes and bays include Alaska, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, and the New England states.

Equipment for the sport is especially important since the fishing itself takes place in and during a dangerously unpredictable climate/season. Practically imperative equipment minimally includes these items: a sturdy rod; a reel, preferably Micro-spinning; 4 – 8 lb test ice-line; bait such as crappie minnows, wax worms, and fatheads; jigs, spoons, and hooks; a stool; handwarmers; needle nose pliers for manipulating hooks; a fishing license; proper identification; bobber stops with beads; an assortment of split-shot; knife or finger nail clipper to cut line; ice scoop or strainer to remove new ice as it forms; an auger to make a hole in the ice with accompanying sled; small shovel; a cell phone and an ice pick.

Amenities for the sport might include a cabin or “fishing house,” bunk beds, food, drinks, towels, tissues, and gloves.

There are three main types of ice fishing. Brightly colored lures may be used at the end of a light rod while jigging for fish. Tip-ups, a line attached to a signal flag that “tips-up” when a fish nibbles, allow for unattended lines and can be hand-drawn so no rod is required. Spear fishing consists of the fisherman standing over the hole with a spear attached to a line. Decoys may draw fish near enough to strike.

Shelters vary widely for ice fishing. No shelter is necessary if the weather is agreeable and protective clothing is worn. Structures are often referred to as “shanties,” “ice huts,” or “ice/fish houses.” Some are portable and tent-like or plastic or wood and towed by vehicles onto the lake/bay each outing; others are permanent and sturdier. Shanty communities are not uncommon in lake areas. Permanent huts may include “luxuries” such as cooking elements, beds, lights, heat, and chairs.

Safety is a concern when ice fishing as both winter temperatures and storms may make conditions dangerous. The ice itself is another concern as it must be at least four inches thick to support the weight of a human and 12 inches for a vehicle. Even in the coldest temperatures, ice is still affects by the current of the water below. Carbon monoxide poisoning is another risk if fishermen utilize fish house heaters while inside for long durations.

Messenger dog with its handler, in France, during World War I

Messenger dog with its handler, in France, during World War I. This collie dog worked as a messenger in the front line under constant gunfire. A scrolled up message can be seen attached to the dogs collar. Dogs were also used in the trenches to kill rats and mice, thereby protecting food supplies. In addition to carrying out messenger duties and various other tasks, a regimental mascot also helped to maintain the troops morale.

Most of the armies involved in ‘the Great War’ had specially trained dogs in many of their regiments. These dogs performed a wide range of important tasks, including carrying messages, sentry duty, acting as decoys, ambulance duties and killing vermin. Keeping a pet also helped to raise the morale of the soldiers, by adding an element of domestic home life to the trench.

WestVirgina DUI ,must see?

August 9th, 2011 4 comments

Question by Arthurlikesbeer: WestVirgina DUI ,must see?
Only a person in West Virginia could think of this.

From the county where drunk driving is considered a sport, comes this true story. Recently a routine police patrol parked outside a bar in West Virginia after last call the officer noticed a man leaving the bar so apparently intoxicated that he could barely walk.

The man stumbled around the parking lot for a few minutes, with the officer quietly observing. After what seemed an eternity in which he tried his keys on five different vehicles, the man managed to find his car and fall into it. He sat there for a few minutes as a number of other
patrons left the bar and drove off.

Finally he started the car, switched the wipers on and off–it was a fine, dry summer night–,flicked the blinkers on and off a couple of times, honked the horn and then switched on the lights. He moved the vehicle forward a few inches, reversed a little and then remained still for a few more minutes as some more of the other patrons’ vehicles left. At last, when his was the only car left in the parking lot, he pulled out and drove slowly down the road.

The police officer, having waited patiently all this time, now started up his patrol car, put on the flashing lights, promptly pulled the man over and administered a breathalyzer test. To his amazement, the breathalyzer indicated no evidence that the man had consumed any alcohol at all!

Dumbfounded, the officer said, I’ll have to ask you to accompany me to the police station. This breathalyzer equipment must be broken.”

“I doubt it,” said the truly proud Redneck. “Tonight I’m the designated decoy.”

Knightley began her acting career at the age of seven, making her television debut in Royal Celebration (1993) and also appearing on the television series, The Bill (1995). She appeared in several more made-for-television films in the mid to late 1990s, before being cast as Sabé, Padmé Amidala’s decoy, in the 1999 science fiction blockbuster Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. During this time period, Knightley also appeared in The Hole, a thriller that received a direct-to-video release in the United States, and in a mini-series remake of Doctor Zhivago that was first aired in 2002.

Knightley’s breakthrough role was in the English sports-themed film, Bend It Like Beckham, which was a major success in its August 2002 UK release, and did fairly at the box office upon its United States release in March 2003, grossing $ 32 million.[2] After Bend It Like Beckham’s UK release raised her profile, she was cast in the big budget action film, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, which was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and opened in July 2003 to positive reviews and a high box office gross, becoming one of the biggest hits of summer 2003 and cementing Knightley as a leading actress.

Knightley is the spokesperson for the luxury goods brand Asprey, as well as Lux haircare products in Japanese TV commercials. She appeared nude on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine (March 2006 ‘Hollywood’ issue) with Scarlett Johansson.

Knightley recently completed filming on a Pirates of the Carribean sequel, which is due for release in July 2006. She will star in Silk, an adaptation of the novel by Alessandro Baricco, before finishing work on the third Pirates of the Caribbean film.

Palisade Systems? FireBlock Wins R&D 100 Award

Palisade SystemsÂ? FireBlock Wins R&D 100 Award

AMES, Iowa (PRWEB) July 11, 2003 -

Palisade Systems, a leading provider of internal network security solutions, announced today FireBlock, its network access control appliance, has been awarded the prestigious R&D 100 Award for 2003. FireBlock received the award as one of the 100 most technologically significant products of the last year as selected by an independent panel of experts from R&D Magazine, a technical trade publication that sponsors the annual event.

The award, called the Â?Oscars of applied scienceÂ? by the Chicago Tribune, recognized FireBlock for its cutting-edge approach to internal security. Â?At a time when many organizations focus on protecting their network from external hackers, FireBlock addresses threats to critical business assets on the network proactively from the inside,Â? said Doug Jacobson, Palisade SystemsÂ? chief technology officer and president. Â?Unlike any competitor, FireBlock is uniquely designed to protect critical internal servers from internal attacks without degrading network performance or erroneously blocking an authorized access attempt. The key to FireBlockÂ?s approach is denying all access requests except that which is specifically allowed by the organization.Â?

With new privacy and security laws taking effect in the healthcare and financial services industries, the need for FireBlock has increased. FireBlock protects key servers and network assets from internal network-level attacks, and has been widely adopted by banks and hospitals to assure compliance with the new security laws. The appliance is also key to these organizations in giving an understanding of internal traffic and providing a detailed audit trail of both successful and blocked access to applications.

The award marks the second time Palisade Systems has been recognized for its innovative developments. In 2001, the PacketHound network application management appliance won the R&D 100 Award for its ability to eliminate security and liability issues resulting from rogue applications like peer-to-peer file sharing. Both appliances use the same passive, patented technology to eliminate network abuses without affecting network speed and performance.

Palisade Systems will receive the award officially at a banquet held on October 16th at the Grand Ballroom of ChicagoÂ?s Navy Pier.

About Palisade Systems, Inc. Palisade Systems, Inc. helps organizations manage and protect critical network assets against a variety of threats from benign utilization issues to malicious attacks. What’s my octave vocal range?

July 25th, 2011 Comments off

Question by Cyn.: What’s my octave vocal range?
I can sing as high as Hayley Williams (Paramore) in the songs she sings her highest.
(Ex: I can sing like her in “Decoy” and “Let the Flames Begin”)
I’m really wondering about my vocal range,
What is her octave range?
Because I can sing exactly as high as she can but I can’t go any higher :/
& No I’m not bragging, I just want to know what my… yeah.

First off – go you for being able to sing that high! Props there. I can only sing that high in falsetto.

Your voice/octave range depends on how low you can go as well. It sounds like you’re a pretty strong soprano, if you sing like she does, so if you can go fairly low, you’ve got a pretty wide range.

If you have a piano around, or have access to one, there’s an easy way to figure out your range. Just start by playing a normal C in the middle of the keyboard (if you don’t know which key that is, it’s the white key to the immediate left of any two black keys). Just play that, and then play each note going up and down and try to sing them as you go. Once you’ve reached your highest and your lowest, hold both those keys down and you can see your range. As for the octaves, if you start with a C, look to see how many other C notes you were able to reach (as you go up, each new C note is another octave – same going down).

That’s the easiest way I can think of to finding your range. ^_^ I hope that helped and wasn’t terribly confusing.

If you want another Decoy, you could get one shipped to you. Verizon might still have some in their factory. When my friends enV 1 broke, she ordered the same type from the store and got what she ordered, and this was after they were well into the enV 2 series. So if you want a Decoy, it doesn’t hurt to try. If not, you could also try to find the closest thing to the Decoy out there.

Information On How To Hunt Safely

July 21st, 2011 Comments off

The thrill of chasing down a twelve-point buck or bagging a prize-winning turkey sends millions of hunters into the woods every year in search of that prize kill. Hunting is exciting, but it can also be dangerous and even deadly if hunters are not educated and religiously exercise good hunting safety techniques.

The Basics

Before leaving on your hunting trip, prepare yourself well. Never go to an unplanned location or take off on a spontaneous hunting
