What do you have too say about Star Wars?

June 7th, 2011 1 comment

Question by Lowell: What do you have too say about Star Wars?
As we all know it’s the 30th Anniversary of one of the greatest movies of all time: Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back! Star Wars is only my favorite Movie Series of all time! And there is no better time to celebrate it than the Anniversary of the best one, Episode 5! I can say lots about Star Wars! And everyone has their own opinion of Star Wars: Like, some think it’s just a movie, some think it’s a waste of time, others think it’s the best film ever made! Wanna know how I see it?

I think it is about the Hero’s journey from start to finish: a young boy who does his usual crap, and dreams of Adventure, gets the opportunity to prove himself to be heroic, receives the wisdom of a wise mentor, meets friends along the way, rescues a hot damsel, challenges an Empire of Evil, encounters his greatest enemy (himself!), and receives redemption and triumph! That is how I see it! Oh, and I don’t consider the Expanded Universe as canon, nor do I like it! I have only read a hand full of the Novels, and I have the Encyclopedia, so I think I know almost enough about it! Anyways I love Star Wars, but HATE the Expanded Universe! Here are reasons why:

1.) It ruins the positive ending of Return of the Jedi

2.) It turns Luke to the Dark Side (way to ruin the Mythology of Star Wars lousy, greedy authors!)

3.) That it resurrects so many villains. Okay, can’t we just accept they are dead and get on with it!?!

4.) It ruins the main principle of warfare in Star Wars, that the good guys are supposed to be about nature and the bad guys are supposed to be about technology and destruction, not the other way around! Yuuzan vong? Please!

5.) They kill off Chewie! What did that poor Wookie ever do to you authors!

6.) IT DESTROYS GEORGE LUCAS’ VISION! Okay Anakin is the Chosen One! He fullfiled the Prophecy (Return of the Jedi DVD Vader’s Redemption) No, he didn’t kill Palpatine’s clone nor did Palpatine clone himself! First of all, that destroys the character of Palpatine, sure he’s supposed to be clever, but come on, he’s supposed to be Over-Confident! Like in the Prequels, Palpatine only sensed his victory, but at the last minute he sensed his downfall when it was too late! That Vader was turned into a flaming cabob! So how could he sense his own death? And plus, I just hate how people are giing these ridiculous clone therories about the bad guys! Even in The Dark Knight, My friend was wondering, “what if that wasn’t the Joker who got killed, what if that was his decoy?” Oy! Clones this! Decoys that! Clones, clones, clones, CLONES! Just let the Story teller (George Lucas) tell his freaking Story! Okay! But how do you see it? Do you like the Prequels? Do you love to hate them? Do you love the Expanded Universe? Here are some categories:

A.) What do you thnk of the Ewoks?

B.) Do you think Anakin is the Chosen One, or the Evil One?

C.) Who do you think is the main Hero, and the main Villain?

D.) Who’s your favorite character?

E.) Do you love Jar Jar, or Love to Hate him?

F.) What do YOU think of the EU?

G.) What is your favorite moment of the Saga?

Just give your honest opinion. me?

A.) I think the Ewoks play an improtant part in Star Wars! The Battle of Endor was like a David and Goliath moment: If you believe in yourself, trust in your God, you can achieve anything! Same as the Trench run in ANH, Luke didn’t deppend on the technology, he trusted in The Force!

B.) The Chosen One, definetly!

C.) The Skywalkers are the main Heroes, and Palpatine is the main vilain! ’nuff said!

D.) Everyone of them! ‘cept Dooku, Jango Fett, and the Sepratist Leaders. But that’s just me!

E.) I like Jar Jar. He delivers comic relef! And he got me into Star Wars in the first place!

F.) Havn’t you guy noticed it says, “Expanded Universe” emphasis on Universe? Alternate Reality!

G.) Almost everything!

What do you think?

FINDING HIDDEN ASSETS IN DIVORCE: Searching for Clues in Taxes, Investment Accounts, Paychecks, and Business Records

June 1st, 2011 Comments off

Every divorce and legal separation in Arizona requires the division of assets. With some couples, that process of division can be complex and contentious. Adding to that tension is the unfortunate reality that some individuals will attempt to conceal assets from their spouses.

Hiding assets in anticipation of divorce.

Discovery Channel Shark Week-When Filmmakers…Attack!

SAN DIEGO, CA (PRWEB) August 5, 2004

When Wildlife FilmmakersÂ?.Attack.

Recently the Discovery Channel aired its latest installment of Shark Week. Watched by an estimated 20 million viewers nationwide once again their depiction of sharks and facts were sadly lacking in detail beyond the scary shark image. More shockingly we now have seen the Discovery Channel devolve into nothing more than the purveyor of cheap shark stunts where the molestation of a proud undersea predator is par for the course and marine science a mere afterthought on a producers script.

In this latest case, Great White sharks were gleefully Â?manhandled, ridden and struck with speargunsÂ? by swaggering filmmakers at the latest Great White shark hotspot, Isla Guadalupe, Mexico. My company Absolute Adventures-Shark Diver (http://www.sharkdiver.com) runs two fulltime eco-tourism boats out to this unique and pristine site each season from Sept-Dec. Wherein we take divers to see these animals I would like to point out the differences between us and why we absolutely decry these filmakerÂ?s tactics and ask for your help today.

The film group in question Â?Shark EntertainmentÂ? was fined $ 21,000 two years ago for filming at a well protected shark site called Ano Nuevo, in California. In this Discovery Channel series called Â?Air Jaws Two, Even HigherÂ?, Great White sharks were enticed to attack a Namibian Cape Fur Seal decoy towed at high speeds though as protected National Marine Sanctuary. It worked, and sharks attacked the decoys with abandon, flying completely into the air with the effort. The scientific facts about this Discovery shoot? Ano Nuevo is 5000 miles away any Namibian Cape Fur Seal breeding grounds. Not only was this decoy knowingly incorrect, the operators specialized research permits were abused and fines were eventually levied against the operators of the boat in a very fine display of investigation by the MBNMS enforcement division.

Please See:

http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/fish/sharks/innews/sharkfine2003.htm

Undaunted, we discovered with some chagrin, these same filmmakers at our pristine Isla Guadalupe site filming again, this time without cages. Cage-less Great White shark filming may look exciting, but it puts both divers and the sharks at serious risk it also opens the doors to filmmakers wanting to Â?push the envelopeÂ?. In this case we were witness to divers riding the backs of Great White sharks for the pure sport, and the honor of being called a Â?Great White shark riderÂ?. If we may put forth an analogy here. You may Â?say so what, theyÂ?re just Great White sharksÂ?. Imagine if you will if a group of filmmakers ascended the cloud forests of Africa to film Lowland Mountain Gorillas, as many do each year. Now imagine your reaction of seeing one, two and three of these filmmakers Â?pushing the envelopeÂ? and attempting to ride on the backs of these magnificent animals for the cameras. Your immediate revulsion at this prospect is the same as ours. Guadalupe Great Whites are our passion we encounter them for 10 week periods each year. We have come to know individual animals by name, by scar patterns and yes, by behaviors.

What makes us different is that we have a full time research program onboard with notables from the marine science community doing real and significant work. We also channel funds directly to this program. We practice Â?safe and saneÂ? shark diving, from behind cages, with the sharks best interests in mind at all time. We never foster, nor to do do we extol the virtues of free diving with or riding the backs of Great Whites. Our goal is for close interaction with divers, marine science, research, and sharks. If our divers come away with a broader understanding about the biology and behaviors of sharks after an encounter from the cage we have won on many levels.

So, what of the filmmakers? This year again another group is coming down to our site, this time with a 14 foot mechanical Great White shark submarine. Their admitted goal? To film a real Great White shark attacking this fake decoy with a member of the extended Cousteau Clan inside while the cameras record this travesty for big sponsorship dollars.

Please See:

http://www.thelog.com/news/newsview.asp?c=114583

We call upon Discovery Channel, MSNBC, National Geographic Television, Spike TV, MTV and others to stop buying programming from filmmakers who treat wildlife like a free wildlife cash machine. The public also has a choice and we call upon them to choose wisely, and speak up when you see a nature program that is obviously is pushing the limits. Do not be fooled into disclaimers saying Â?these are professionalsÂ?, molestation and disregard for wildlife is just that, regardless of whoÂ?s behind it.

Your help in the form of one email to Dr. Felipe Galvan of CONAP in Mexico will also lead to the eventual permitting and protection of the Isla Guadalupe Great White site. Right now no protections are in place so filmmakers may do as they see fit. This has to stop, unfortunately without any sort of rules or protection for Great White sharks in Mexican waters, Â?pushing the limitÂ? will know no bounds. It starts with a seemingly innocent Â?ride on the wild sideÂ? where it ends unfortunately is in the hands of the money guys at Discovery Channel and others.

Your voice in this issue is greatly appreciated; please send one email today titled Â?Protection for MexicoÂ?s Great Whites Now!Â? to fgalvan@ipn.mx The few Great Whites sharks at the PacificÂ?s last pristine shark site at Isla Guadalupe will thank you, and so do we.

The amount of birds you can hunt during the duck hunting season and if there are any ammo restrictions that you need to observe should also be known. So i went duck hunting this weekend?

May 27th, 2011 5 comments

Question by Jackrabbit Slim: So i went duck hunting this weekend?
Saw several flocks, but nothing wanted to decoy. rough day. i was complaining to my wife about the problem when we were walking the dogs through the park. then she pipes up and says ” you ever try bread?”
i say “huh?”
“yeah, take a bag of bread and throw it at the decoys.”
i hadnt laughed like that in a while. i love that woman.
then i got to thinking.. maybe with a jerk cord set up, i could throw the bread and a buddy could pull on the jerk string, making it look like the ducks are racing each other to the bread.
waddaya think?
good point stormgal, hadnt thought of it like that. what if i threw pebbles? then its just fooling them instead of feeding them.
i guess the lightheartedness of my question didnt seep through. you would think that me explaining that i went duck hunting this weekend would keep people from pointing out obvious duck hunting facts. i know what a feed call is, im pretty good at it actually. and i am well aware there is a difference between wild waterfowl and local resident waterfowl. i guess next time i will make sure to note on my question that its a joke. that way people wont waste their time .

Getting REVENGE on email spammers?

May 26th, 2011 5 comments

Question by Sara: Getting REVENGE on email spammers?
About twice a day I receive junk email in my inbox. I get so angry that I want to get revenge on these spammers. So lately I have been taking their email addresses and signing them up for every possible daily email newsletter. I know that their emails are probably just “decoys”, but still, maybe I’ll get lucky and actually annoy one of them.

Is there any other good revenge out there? Any special websites or what?

New from Romance at Heart Publishing – a Romantic Suspense with a twist

(PRWEB) September 19, 2004

Tessa Garrity dared to be brave and answered a newspaper ad for a job located miles away from her hometown. She had just completed her correspondence course in background investigations and decided to test the job market. She was stunned when Norwell Genetics Agency offered her the position, and even more surprised that she accepted it and moved so far from her comfort zone.

While trying to acclimate to the high demands of a new job and find time to unpack, sheÂ?s visited by a seemingly cocky, yet handsome police officer who asks more of her than sheÂ?s willing to give. Besides needing information about a suspected felon, Detective Blake Logan wants Tessa to be his decoy, and her immediate supervisor thinks itÂ?s just fine.

It seems that Damien Sloane, an applicant for a Research Assistant position with Norwell, has been engaging in illegal activities for personal gain, and all Tessa has to do is meet with him so he can harvest her eggs for research. In reality, he sells those he collects to overseaÂ?s insemination clinics and pockets the money. Tessa is more appalled about the unsuspecting women who have offspring they will never meet.

Tessa is quite taken with Blake, and when he assures her she will be perfectly safe, one look in those baby blues makes her a believer. But, when Damien unexpectedly changes their meeting place and discovers sheÂ?s a Â?plantÂ?, will her white knight get the message in time and ride to her rescue.

Artists Wildlife Sculptures Inspire A Natural Serenity

Artists Wildlife Sculptures Inspire A Natural Serenity

Succasunna, NJ (PRWEB) June 4, 2004 -

Â? WE all suffer from not having the time to sit back and enjoy this thing we call life. There is barely a moment taken to enjoy the natural world all around us anymore. There is a way, however, for you to enjoy the natural wonders without venturing far from your front steps. I recently came across an artistÂ?s work of sculptured art that replicates the beauty of nature and preserves it for all to enjoy. These sculptures capture nature in the wild, co-existing with the human world. In some instances this co-existence with the human world provides a welcome environment, in others, a sharp contradiction.

With construction swallowing up more of our natural wild areas each year, it becomes harder for our wildlife to seek refuge. One species, however, has made the best of this situation, co-existing with humans as best they can. Birds have been around for a very long time, with no indication they plan on leaving. They nest in the most opportune places. The artists from Overboard Art have done a brilliant job in recreating our fine-feathered friends nesting homes for all of us to enjoy.

These works of art, which adorn the homes and galleries of both the private and public sectors, are reproduced from carved or sculptured originals. High standards ensure that the replicas are near identical to the original. After the moldings are casted, they undergo a labor-intensive process that requires an artistÂ?s patience and skill.

The highest grade of material resins, used in sculptures, is utilized to ensure that the artwork will give you a lifetime of enjoyment under normal care. Waterproof paints similar to the type used on decoys designed to be thrown overboard, provide a durable finish. Overboard Art derived its name when the art of decoy carvings developed to the point of being too valuable to throw overboard.

The sculptures are available in a variety of nesting habitats, each with its own charm. Most are produced in limited editions, thus preserving its value for future generations. The limited editions come with a Certificate of Authenticity, numbered and complete with the artists signature stamp. Each is cast in permanent resins and hand painted by artists using waterproof acrylics, making them suitable for the outdoors. I would personally keep them protected from the fading powers of the sun.

Overboard Art wants to ensure that your artwork will always provide you with that great sense of enjoyment as it did on the first day you fell in love with it. ThatÂ?s why they offer, at cost plus shipping (both ways) a repair service in the event of breakage. They will do their best in bringing your artwork back to its original condition.

The first category I would like to draw your attention too is the Knot Hole Collection. Imagine walking down a wooded path when suddenly your attention is drawn to movement in a knothole of a nearby a tree. A tiny head peers through it. You stop for a moment to admire nature in the wild. You exchange mutual glances of curiosity.

The artists at Overboard Art have recreated this encounter in remarkable detail, right down to the simulated wood bark of the tree; available in a variety of species, such as a redheaded woodpecker, an eastern bluebird, or a black-capped chickadees to name a few. Included in the cost, is a decorative weathered sign affixed to the tree. You can choose from one of the following signs, a target practice sign over the knothole, a Â?House for SaleÂ?, or a Â?No HuntingÂ? sign. Each are sized approximately 10Â?W x 12Â?H x 2.5Â?D.

One of my favorites, the Caretakers Collection, was inspired by an actual event that had happened to the artist. On one of his wandering walks he came upon an abandoned farmhouse that was in the process of being taken back by nature. Much to his surprise, a family of wrens had taken up nesting in the spring house. A knothole in the siding secured passage to an abode safe from the elements, which fueled the inspiration for this collection. These sculptures are both a testament to natureÂ?s ability to coexist in our world and they are a tribute to our winged friends. They replicate the brick and wood siding of a barn and are approximately 18Â?W x 23Â?H x 4Â? D.

The Mates Collection is designed to be special and unique and can be personalized with initials or words of your choosing. You can choose from having yours and a loved ones initials carved into the siding or some other special message. Up to six letters are included in the cost of the sculpture. More letters can be added for an additional cost. They come with two birds of your choosing; select from the eastern bluebirds, cardinals, or wood ducks to name a few. Great gifts for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, house-warming gifts and of course V-Day.

The Sanctuary Collection, besides their artistic beauty, allocates a percentage of the income derived from their sale to initiate a Â?Percent For WildlifeÂ? program for wildlife conservation.

There are other collections available to choose from to suit everyoneÂ?s tastes and styles in home decor. So whether you choose to display them outdoors in their most natural setting or indoors to capture a natural look for your home decor, you are assured of a soothing environment that is both pleasing to the eye and soul.

Nick Volpe, the author, appreciates these sculptures and the stories that inspired them having taken many walks himself through often-abandoned fields, farms and woodlands. The sculptures mentioned within this article are from the Overboard Art Collections and can be viewed on his website at http://www.nfvproducts.com.

Drink Driving… How to get away with it?

May 20th, 2011 8 comments

Question by Limeyb: Drink Driving… How to get away with it?
One night a police officer was stalking out a particularly rowdy bar for possible violations of the driving-under-the-influence laws.

At closing time, he saw a fellow stumble out of the bar, trip on the curb and try his keys on five different cars before he found his. Then sat in the front seat fumbling around with his keys for several minutes.

Everyone else left the bar and drove off.

Finally he started his engine and began to pull away.

The police officer was waiting for him. He stopped the driver, read him his rights and administered the Breathalyzer test.

The results showed a reading of 0.0.

The puzzled officer demanded to know how that could be.

The driver replied, “Tonight I’m the designated decoy.”

Spam Campaign Imitates Genuine Business Opportunity

Columbus, OH (PRWEB) August 4, 2006 –

The war on spam has not ceased since it became the curse of having an email address. Email providers tout themselves as a refuge for those frustrated by spam, and at least one association has been formed to push for legislation against unsolicited commercial email (UCE). Most people confidently identify spam and delete it without delay.

It may be time to upgrade anti-spam defenses because spammers are getting smarter. Instead of blasting inboxes with messages that unashamedly reek of spam, they are trying a softer approach that appeals to our emotions and makes us want to respond.

Kristen Hallows, owner of resume writing and career coaching firm Job You Deserve, recently received a vague email from a company she did not recognize. The sender said she was doing research for a company that will be writing an article about resume writing. The email asked Mrs. Hallows if she would like JobYouDeserve.com to be featured in the company’s “popular online publication.”

Mrs. Hallows was flattered yet skeptical. She Googled the company name to obtain more information, and the first result was a link to a forum. Entrepreneurs like Mrs. Hallows were discussing the legitimacy of an almost identical email they had also received from this company. Subjects of the articles the company was going to be writing ranged from Lyme disease to personalized chocolates.

The discussion board exposed the true intent of this seemingly interesting proposal. Mrs. Hallows thought she was being offered exposure for Job You Deserve, when in fact the email was just a decoy designed to entice readers to contact an organization, which is actually a provider of search engine optimization services.

While it was disappointing to discover that she was one of countless entrepreneurial targets, Mrs. Hallows does not blame companies for getting creative with their advertising attempts. “It was almost as if someone had read my mind. I was actually looking for ways to get Job You Deserve featured in a ‘popular online publication’ or two,” she says. Mrs. Hallows has one suggestion for other companies that may employ a similar tactic. “Make sure the fictitious employee who sends the red herring email has a first and last name. The sender’s lack of a surname was my first tip-off.”

Martinson-Nicholls New Programmable BirdXPeller Repels Birds without Harming Them

Martinson-Nicholls New Programmable BirdXPeller Repels Birds without Harming Them

BirdXPeller detail

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) April 7, 2008

The new BirdXPeller Pro is a sonic bird repeller that you program to repel any birds infesting your area. The programming feature allows you to select any or all of the different birds, including pigeons, sparrows, starlings, gulls, woodpeckers, crows, blackbirds, grackles, and geese. You may also add real predator sounds to give the infesting birds even more of a sense of danger.

BirdXPeller Pro uses actual, species-specific distress cries, so your pest birds perceive danger to their own species. They become agitated and disoriented, and flee for good. Each of the bird sounds can be turned on or off, so you can customize the unit for your infestation. In addition to targeting specific birds, you may vary volume, time off periods and random/sequential play. These programming options make it virtually impossible for birds to get used to any one pattern.

BirdXPeller Pro is compact (10.25″ x 3.75″ x 4.25″), lightweight (four pounds) and made in the USA. The powerful directional speaker shoots sound in a long oval pattern, covering up to one acre (0.4 hectares). The controls are conveniently located on the back. The unit comes complete with a rain cover with mounting tab, AC adaptor with cord, and instructions. If no AC is available, you can use a 12vDC battery instead.

“I have used several BirdX products around my house, in particular the sprays and decoys to repel geese. I was truly amazed as to how well they and the new BirdXPeller worked,” says Dan Ruminski, President of Martinson-Nicholls.

It’s ideal for all large outdoor areas: industrial parks, overpasses, marinas, parks, airfields, rooftops, open parking lots, vineyards and farms, or wherever else pest birds are a problem.

BirdXPeller Pro is environmentally safe; it controls birds without chemicals, nets, fences or shooting.

Sunnect AP501 Advanced Protection Digital Door Lock Praised in the National Locksmith Magazine as “a Dream to Install and Operate”

Sunnect AP501 Digital Door Lock

Springfield, VA (PRWEB) January 6, 2009

Sunnect AP501 Advanced Protection digital door lock was featured in a seven-page article titled “A Completely New Design for an Electronic Deadbolt from Sunnect Inc.” by Richard Dickey in the January 2009 issue of the National Locksmith magazine. (The article can be viewed at http://www.SunnectLock.com/pdf/SunnectAP501-NationalLocksmith2009Jan.pdf.)

After describing the major features of the AP501 such as keyless entry, auto lock, and decoy digits, as well as its standard installation procedure, Mr. Dickey details the rigorous testing conducted on the AP501 such as the 200,000-cycle test, -35°F temperature test, electro-static discharge (ESD) test, and the inspections using an x-ray microscope.

Referring to a video showing the bullet test conducted on the AP501, he says “you are going to love this! [The video] should be viewed just for the ‘WOW’ factor if for no other reason.” (The bullet test video is available at http://www.SunnectLock.com/photo.html.)

Pointing out the unique technologies used in the patent-pending door lock such as the door-closure sensor and optical sensors, Mr. Dickey states that “it’s the first stand alone door lock I have seen in a long time that really took a completely different approach in its lock design.”

“It is built like a tank, is a dream to install and operate, and for what you get, has a price point that will make anyone smile.”

Recommending the AP501 to fellow locksmith professionals, Mr. Dickey says “If you do any kind of stand alone lock installations, you owe it to yourself and your potential customers to take a look at the Sunnect product. I think if you do, you will be as impressed with this product as I am, and I can assure you that this one I’m keeping.”

Commenting on the article, Michael Kwon, president of Sunnect, Inc. said “in his thorough review of our lock, Mr. Dickey does not come out and say the AP501 is the best lock he has seen, but he seems to prove it step by step by not only describing its features but by showing how each piece is designed and put together. We consider it a privilege that an industry-renowned professional, who could have chosen any lock, has installed our AP501 on his own home.”

Online Gift Shoppe Provides Personalized Gift Ideas through New Blog

Capac, MI (PRWEB) September 12, 2009

When Marcie Curtis founded http://www.CurtisGiftIdeas.com, she wanted to offer her customers more than just great gifts, but also great advice.

“Finding a personalized gift can be such a pain, but I think with a little diligence, the time and effort is well worth it,” said Curtis. “One of the main reasons I created a website was to help people find the perfect gift for the occasion and the recipient,” she added.

Curtis has compiled an extensive selection of first rate gifts including messenger bags, hunting apparel, wireless headsets, computer games and much more. While Curtis believes the broad appeal of her selection to be one of the defining factors of her website, she’s convinced her customers will be most impressed by the quality of her products.

“I carry brand name products from some of the most trusted names,” said Curtis. “All the products I offer are first rate, and are guaranteed to last.”

While the draw of her products is no doubt appealing, Curtis’s new blog at http://www.CurtisGiftIdeasInfo.com is fast becoming her website’s most outstanding feature.

“When I created the blog, I had the idea that it would become a source for information about the products on the website,” said Curtis. “But as I thought about it, I figured the blog would be better suited to provide gift ideas.”

On the blog, Curtis has endeavored to discuss gift ideas based on the recipient’s individual interests, and thus create a resource for people who struggle with gift giving.

“I think the easiest way to find the perfect gift is to start with the individual, and think about their interests,” said Curtis. “I’ve taken the guesswork out of gift giving on the blog because I choose specific interests, say hunting, and then provide targeted gift ideas, say decoys, optics, holsters, insect repellent and tents.”

With her website and blog, Curtis is able to offer great gifts at affordable prices, as well as suggestions for finding the ideal gift. “I’ve done my best to become a one-stop shop for gifts and information,” she added.

what are you thoughts?

The Greatest Dot-to-Dot Super Challenge Series Announces the Release of Book 8

Greatest Dot-to-Dot Super Challenge Book 8

Rochester, NY (Vocus) July 22, 2010

Puzzle designer David Kalvitis, skillfully utilizes dots and a variety of guides to create complex and artistic dot-to-dot puzzles in The Greatest Dot-to-Dot Super Challenge Book 8. This newest addition to the popular series of connect-the-dot books challenges puzzlers with even more elaborately plotted maps, resulting in surprisingly beautiful scenes.

In 2000, Kalvitis revolutionized traditional connect-the-dots intended for children and created the first dot-to-dots specifically designed for older audiences. With the creation of his extraordinary puzzles, Kalvitis’ first series of books left puzzlers clamoring for more. As a result Kalvitis answered their requests with multiple Greatest Dot-to-Dot Super Challenge series books.

The Greatest Dot-to-Dot Super Challenge Book 8 provides puzzlers with another first: a hunt for a numerical sequence hidden among decoy numbers. This inventive idea along with the groundbreaking use of guides such as symbols, letters, words, coordinates, arrows, and compass directions creates complex challenges for all ages.

According to Kalvitis, “There are three key elements that set my puzzles apart from others: variety, artistry and surprise.” Regarding the surprise of each puzzle Kalvitis states, “It is critical in maintaining older audience’s interest and enthusiasm. The innovative use of dozens of separate lines within each puzzle creates beautifully intricate scenes that are masked until the last dot is connected.”

“Each puzzle is a work of art in its own right. When you complete a puzzle, you are rewarded with images that are themselves often surprisingly vivid,” writes Major Fun Award director Bernie DeKovan.

The Greatest Dot-to-Dot Super Challenge puzzles are also uniquely made up of hundreds, and at times thousands of plotted points. “The most intriguing thing about the designer’s work is the way the puzzle solver is directed to draw long lines in unexpected places that completely unbalance any preconceived ideas about what is being depicted,” states reviewer Eleanor Heldrich of Children’s Literature.

“How wonderful that you decided to design a sophisticated and challenging dot-to-dot book for older kids. I am an 88-year older kid! And I want to thank you sincerely for your Dot-to-Dot books,” Mary from Ontario wrote in regards to the new Greatest Dot-to-Dot Super Challenge Book 8.

Cooperstown Area Attractions Celebrate Fall’s Bounty this Weekend

Local Musical Performances at AppleFest

Fly Creek, NY (Vocus) September 13, 2010

Two of Cooperstown’s most popular family attractions, The Fly Creek Cider Mill and The Farmers’ Museum, are hosting fall festivals this weekend. At the Mill the Cooperstown Rotary Club celebrates this year’s plentiful apple crop with the 15th annual AppleFest. The Festival program is loaded with family-focused activities including children’s games, scarecrow making, pumpkin painting, apple sampling, bouncy houses, antique tractor display and a full line-up of local musical performances. There will be a raffle and silent auction of many valuable prizes donated by local businesses and Rotarians. AppleFest hours are 10:00 until 5:00 Saturday and noon until 5:00 Sunday. Admission is $ 2, children under 12 are free.

Rotary distributes every dollar raised at AppleFest to local charities. Last year they raised more than $ 14,000 and hope to exceed that goal this year.

Both days the Fly Creek Cider Mill will demonstrate the cider-making process with its historic water-powered cider press. Apple lovers may sample fresh varieties including McIntosh, Gala, Cortland, Empire and more. Bill Michaels, owner of the Fly Creek Cider Mill, says, “We are pleased to host AppleFest and the Cooperstown Rotary Club benefiting the community. It is our opportunity to thank the many customers who have chosen to make the Mill a traditional fall-family destination.”

Just minutes from the Mill The Farmers’ Museum is celebrating its 32nd Annual Harvest Festival both Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 – 5:00. A live bluegrass musical performance by the Gravel Yard band is scheduled Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00. Returning this year are members of the Southern Tier Alpaca Association who display their animals and offer numerous activities throughout the weekend including an entertaining alpaca obstacle course.

The Harvest Festival brings a wide array of performers, exhibitors, and farm animals to the Museum’s 19th-century setting. Guests can enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides, historic games, craft activities, artisan demonstrations, a canine agility course, and fresh foods from the season’s harvest such as roasted corn. New this year is an apple pie-eating contest (pies supplied by the Fly Creek Cider Mill) on Saturday at 2:00. Sign up until noon in the main barn for the contest.

Over 20 vendors and artisans will offer everything the season has to offer including beeswax candles, cedar hand-carved decoys and birds, early American tinware, quilts, stained glass, and Windsor chairs. Diablo Magazine: The Inside Story of Contra Costa’s Dirtiest Drug Bust – The April Issue Hits Newsstands Tuesday, March 22

Walnut Creek, CA (PRWEB) March 21, 2011

Diablo magazine’s April cover story gives readers the inside story on how a confidential informant and the State of California’s Department of Justice brought down Chris Butler, a former SWAT police officer turned private investigator, and Norm Wielsch, the former commander of the Central Contra Costa Narcotics Enforcement Team (CCCNET).

Senior Editor Peter Crooks, who had been writing a feature about Butler’s detective firm, was tipped to the illegal drug deals by an anonymous source. Crooks helped the source get to the Department of Justice and go undercover, which led to the arrest of Butler and Wielsch. Both individuals could face more than 25 years in prison for the 28 felony counts they have each been charged with. The charges include selling crystal methamphetamine, anabolic steroids, and marijuana.

In a gripping 10,000-word magazine piece, Crooks tells how his involvement on the story started with a salacious ride-along with Butler’s team of “PI Moms,” a few weeks before Butler and the PI Moms were scheduled to start filming a reality show for Lifetime Television. In a case of truth being stranger than fiction, Crooks learned his ride-along had been a fake, scripted and acted by decoys. Crooks also discovered that Butler had staged cases for national media outlets, including People magazine and the Dr. Phil show. From there, the story turns into a twisted tale involving illegal narcotics sales, product placement firearms, dirty DUI stings, and the terrifying possibility of military-grade explosives posing a threat to the community.

After more than seven months on this story, Crooks is relieved that law enforcement was able to make a case against Butler and Wielsch. “Chris Butler wasn’t just dishonest; he was incredibly corrupt and megalomaniacal,” says Crooks. “It seems as if he was trying to be the star of Magnum, P.I. and Scarface at the same time.”

Barney Fonzi, Group Publisher of Diablo magazine, states “We’re very proud of Pete for his dedication, editorial integrity, tenacity and journalistic instincts. Pete was able to create an incredible story for Diablo magazine’s readers, and at the same time provide a valuable service to our community.”

Diablo magazine is sold at major outlets throughout the East Bay including Borders, Barnes & Noble, Safeway, Whole Foods and is delivered to over 40,000 homes and businesses.

Q&A: How do you fool the cops?

Question by ™Spaceman™: How do you fool the cops?
One night, a police officer was stalking out a particularly rowdy bar for possible violations of the driving under the influence laws. At closing time, he saw a fellow stumble out of the bar, trip on the curb, and try his keys on five different cars before he found his. Then, sat in the front seat fumbling around with his keys for several minutes. Everyone left the bar and drove off. Finally, he started his engine and began to pull away.

Rust Rust Go Away, and don’t come back

Rust Rust Go Away, and don’t come back

(PRWEB) December 29, 2003

Rust on a house or dirveway is ugly. The typical solution is to hire a rust removal company, and /or do it yourself by adding a water treatment to your sprinkler system. Chemicals, called chelates, are added to inhibit the rust from forming. Available at Home Depot or Lowes, the chemicals are expensive ($ 8.00 a gallon) and you may need several gallons per month. Fortunately, there is more economical way to solve the problem.

Iron particles in the water are heavy so they tend to settle closer to the bottom. If your water intake is close to the bottom of the lake, pond or canal, then you are sucking in a higher concentration of iron and you can expect to see rust on your house. The simple solution is to float your water intake closer to the surface. This is why you see duck decoys floating behind most houses in South Florida.

An illustration of this problem, and solution, can be seen at:

No More Goose Problems

(PRWEB) June 9, 2005

Attention Goose poop manager,

We have the answer to your goose over population problems!

Renzos decoys has developed a safe, humane, effective way to rid your property of all these unwanted birds and other critters, without harming a feather.

The Renzos Coyote and Red fox Photo realistic, silhouette, weather proof decoys have been helping hunters for years as decoy lure for sport.

Now we have taken these decoys packaged them separately as pure pest control devices. The coyote 2 pack and red fox 2 pack are the only thing out there that is not only instant, but safe, humane and cost effective. They are instant to set-up and instant to take down and move around.

Call today for the easiest most effective pest control devices available. 800-583-5416 or visit us at http://www.renzosdecoys.com

Thanks for your time and here’s to less geese.

For years our walkways were covered with goose droppings making them unsightly and unsafe for our guests and bridal parties. Since we placed Renzo’s Coyotes on our property, we no longer have a Canada goose problem and our walkways are no longer an issue. Guests are now free to roam our English gardens and brides no longer have to hold the hems of their dresses up. Thanks, Renzo’s Decoy’s for a product that works great.

Steve Rusczek, The Aqua Turf Club

Plantsville, Connecticut

I recently purchased your coyote decoy to keep geese away and it really works. For the first time in almost 20 years, our lawn and walkway and patio are poop and stink free. I am interested in buying four more coyotes.

Wild Goose Chase: Wyle E. Goes Plastic – Claudia Van Nes; Courant Staff Writer. Six coyotes are ridding the high school playing fields of a smelly, dirty problem. School business manager Julie Pendleton figured she could afford six of the critters, which, as it turns out, is all she needed to scare off the troublesome Canada geese that flock to the fields. The coyotes have frightened off the scores of geese, which eat the grass and leave behind pounds of droppings. The school system was ready to turn to expensive chemical treatments for the lawn. But budget cuts and concern about possible side effects shelved that idea. Pendleton said Thursday she learned of the coyote solution from a friend who’d heard it was used with some success in neighboring Rhode Island.

Coyotes are predators of Canada geese, but replacing one with the other would not be much of an improvement — except when, as in this case, they are life-size, realistic-looking, but fake. According to the manufacturer, Renzo’s, of Milwaukee, these coyotes are made of corrugated plastic. Â?They’re two-dimensional, but the geese don’t know it. The only thing you have to be sure to do is move them around once a week so the geese don’t catch on they’re not real,Â? said Pendleton. They’ve been posed around the playing fields in various locations, Â?and it’s worked perfectly,Â? said Pendleton.

The coyotes are Â?restingÂ? inside at the moment because the geese are not landing on the fields due to their snow cover. But as soon as the snow melts, Â?they’ll be back,Â? said Pendleton. Renzo’s website says Â?the complete predator kit includes coyotes, fawn, red fox and two rabbit decoys.” What happened to the fawn, fox and rabbits? Â?I gave them to science,Â? said Pendleton, who delivered the decoys to the high school science department.
