What do you think about the words “machine gun” and “assult rifle”?

August 27th, 2011 13 comments

Question by Frank: What do you think about the words “machine gun” and “assult rifle”?
Personall, I’m disgusted by the fact that people say these words to strike fear into other people.

I just got through watching the following 1.5 hour video on debates over firearms in the Supremem court:

rtsp://video.c-span.org/archive/sc/sc031808_2amendment.rm

from the following website:

http://www.nraila.org/heller/

A few people spoke of the word “machine guns” as if it is a race of firearms all on it’s own. I am assuming they are referring to the fully automattic firearms which were nicknamed machine guns repetitively by anti-gun people.

The reality is, all guns are machines. There are parts and pieces, buttons, springs, and the thing actually works to make a certian function easier for us to overcome. Firearms were blessings to hunters that had to kill their game with sticks and traps.

Cars are machines, they are legal. And those are very capable of laying down lives. You have to be a certain age to own one, and when you get that old, you can have one.
Basically, it’s crazy that people still use those key words to strike fear, and note an infinite level of gore on guns, single shot, semi-auto, or even fully-auto. They are still guns, they don’t spray shoot, or any of that crazy mess. Where you point is where it’s gonna go, unless the bullet it’s strong enough to reach those distances, you have horrible aim, or the sights aren’t zeroed. Which in those cases, it’s not the firearms fault.
Overall, politicians misusing language to suit their needs in a debate is outrageous. If they limit our gun rights down to bb guns, maybe not until a few generations from now, how are people supposed to protect themselves? Legal or not, guns will exist. I’m sure if they had the power, they would raid every house in the country and take up everything they’ve made illegal. Right now it’s the looks and functions of the guns that are supposed to be a problem, but next it’s going to be the guns themselves. What is the problem? It’s more like politicians taking fashion crimes seriously. It doesn’t have to be made of wood and use an iron sight to be a good ol’ gun. Just because it has a bipod, synthetic stock, a scope, and has a tactical look to it doesn’t mean it’s a terminator’s weapon. Some people wear gothic clothes, you don’t see them getting arrested for looking fearsome.

P.S. I’d like to see that happen, politicians will definately have alot of problems then.

Best answer:

Answer by Slim Whitman
Frank,, bozos who have never used a semi-auto firearms for sporting reasons only understand what Komrade Katy Couric tells them on the nightly propaganda show.

They use these terms to instill fear. Just as Goebbels did with the jewish people in the early 30s, it made it possible to create the holocaust later one.

There is a saying I’ve heard attributed to several speakers I am not sure of it’s exact origin but it goes like this..

“If you spread lies often enough, loud enough and long enough eventually lies become truth to most people.”

Look at Global Warming. The propagandists have a large portion of this planet buffaloed.

We need to keep on our toes or we will lose our rights to be individuals and just be part of the dumb masses.

All about Rifle Scope – Choosing One to Fit Your Requirements

August 25th, 2011 Comments off

The top quality of your rifle scope can have a large effect on whether or not your hunt is profitable. A lot of people do not recognize that the top quality of the rifle scope may be far more critical than the high quality of the rifle itself. It’s definitely worth spending much more to make sure your rifles scope is rugged and light weight with great quality optics.

The most effective rifle scopes don’t necessarily need to magnify too a lot. Unless you’re

Live Easter Presents of Baby Animals Can Be Deadly – IBRRC Is Urging the Media to Increase Stories About the Dangers of Buying Live Baby Animals at Easter

Fairfield, CA (PRWEB) March 24, 2005

Every year, children become ill with Salmonella poisoning from handling baby ducks and chicks, typically sold only during Easter. Not only is there potential harm to children from this tradition, but environmental havoc as well. Domestic ducks released into public parks, can transmit diseases to wild flocks. Animal shelters, stretched to their limits with unwanted dogs and cats, become overwhelmed with rabbits when the novelty wears off and reality sets in.

Â?Not only is cruel for these baby animals to be sold without any regard for proper care, but it creates tremendous problems later, when the animals that do survive are either Â?dumpedÂ? in public parks or dropped off at local animal sheltersÂ?, said Karen Benzel, Public Affairs Director for International Bird Rescue Research Center. Â?This is a public education issue, and the media can perform a tremendous public benefit by reporting on the serious consequences that can occur when baby animals are purchased on impulse.Â?

The ducklings that are sold at Easter are domestic ducks that cannot fly, and cannot Â?fend for themselves.Â? They can and do carry diseases that endanger wild ducks and geese. In 1993, an outbreak of duck plague, duck virus enteritis (DVE), occurred when an infected domestic duck was released into the canals in Venice, California. Hundreds of birds were killed by wildlife authorities to prevent the virus from spreading. Domestic ducks also mate with wild ducks, creating hybrids. Wildlife rescue centers donÂ?t typically take these hybrids, and animal shelters are not equipped to handle waterfowl.

The CDC has issued an alert warning that Â?bacteria carried in the chicks and ducklingÂ?s intestine contaminates their environment and the entire surface of the animal. Children can be exposed to the bacteria by simply holding, cuddling, or kissing the birds. Others at increased risk include persons with HIV/AIDS, pregnant women, the elderly and other immunocompromised persons.Â?

For the complete article Â?No Escape From Harsh Reality,Â? which explains in detail the differences between domestic and wild ducks and the issues domestic ducks face when forced to Â?fend for themselvesÂ? please visit IBRRCÂ?s website at http://www.ibrrc.org.

DVE outbreak details at: http://home.att.net/%7Ecgbraggjr/v17n7.htm

IBRRC is a proud member of the Oiled Wildlife Care Network (OWCN) a legislatively mandated program within The California Fish and Game, Office of Spill Prevention and Response (OSPR) which strives to ensure that wildlife exposed to petroleum products in the environment receive the best achievable treatment by providing access to permanent wildlife rehabilitation facilities and trained personnel for oil spill response within California.

Question about “Bounty Hunting”?

July 18th, 2011 1 comment

Question by Snowlion: Question about “Bounty Hunting”?
I am curious, I live in Pa and I know in this state you need to be employed by a bail bond company to be a “Bail Enforcement Agent” I was wondering, I was looking and there are currently over 1000 wanted individuals in this state alone with rewards offered for assist in capture. Couldn’t someone “investigate” and essentially hunt down wanted fugitives for the reward offers with no legal requirements? Honestly how can they make it illegal to privately try to track down a wanted individual and place them under citizens arrest? isnt this “bounty hunting” more or less? Any thoughts?
I am not not really asking about “bond enforcing” I am saying that why cant any normal average citizen say as a hobby privately attempt to track down wanted fugitives ( those with warrants issued) to collect the rewards that are often offered both by law enforcement ( like CRIMESTOPPERS etc) or privately offered ( I saw a few where families of victims where offering rewards for assistance in capture) ?

Best answer:

Answer by Hd
you have to be licensed to be a bail enforcement agent which is different than a bail bondsman. where i live you have to take a week long training course, go through a rigorous background check and have several years experience before you can apply for a bail enforcement agent license. without any credentials you could be in big trouble for “bounty hunting”. bail enforcement agents are authorized to purse any fugitive in the state while a bail bondsman can only go after the fugitive’s from their office.

It all depends on the rifle. If it a new one that shoots .233 cal…it barely kicks….now if it’s an old one that shoots the 30.06 cal…well put a little sponge on your shoulder under you shirt to help absorb the impact your shoulder will get when you squeeze the trigger.

Did you hear about the Drinking Deer Hunters?

Question by g4acre: Did you hear about the Drinking Deer Hunters?
Drinking Deer Hunters

One night at a local bar frequented by a bunch of deer hunters who were waiting for the opening day of deer season, the local sheriff scoped out the joint for possible drunk drivers.

As he waited, eventually a patron stumbled out of the bar, fumbled for his keys, tried them in three different cars until he finally found his, got inside and rested his head on the steering wheel. The deputy knew he had his drunk driver, so now all he had to do was wait for him to start his engine and pull out of the lot.

A few hours passed by and most of the other deer hunters had left by then, when the patron abruptly lifted his head, cranked the car up and drove out of the lot like a bat out of hell. The deputy followed him and stopped him promptly. He administered the breath-o-lizer test and it read 0.00.

Confused, the deputy asked the driver what the hell was going on. The driver looked at him innocently and said, “Well, tonight I’m the designated decoy.”

Learn About Rabbit Hunting

June 7th, 2011 Comments off

For many people, hunting rabbits is cruel and unusual punishment. For others, however, hunting rabbits is an age old sport that requires patience and skill. This article will speak to the latter while paying no mind to the former, realizing that the rabbit hunt is as old a tradition in America as hunting other animals and acknowledging that, while hunting may not be necessary in any modern context, it is a heck of a lot of fun.

What do you have too say about Star Wars?

June 7th, 2011 1 comment

Question by Lowell: What do you have too say about Star Wars?
As we all know it’s the 30th Anniversary of one of the greatest movies of all time: Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back! Star Wars is only my favorite Movie Series of all time! And there is no better time to celebrate it than the Anniversary of the best one, Episode 5! I can say lots about Star Wars! And everyone has their own opinion of Star Wars: Like, some think it’s just a movie, some think it’s a waste of time, others think it’s the best film ever made! Wanna know how I see it?

I think it is about the Hero’s journey from start to finish: a young boy who does his usual crap, and dreams of Adventure, gets the opportunity to prove himself to be heroic, receives the wisdom of a wise mentor, meets friends along the way, rescues a hot damsel, challenges an Empire of Evil, encounters his greatest enemy (himself!), and receives redemption and triumph! That is how I see it! Oh, and I don’t consider the Expanded Universe as canon, nor do I like it! I have only read a hand full of the Novels, and I have the Encyclopedia, so I think I know almost enough about it! Anyways I love Star Wars, but HATE the Expanded Universe! Here are reasons why:

1.) It ruins the positive ending of Return of the Jedi

2.) It turns Luke to the Dark Side (way to ruin the Mythology of Star Wars lousy, greedy authors!)

3.) That it resurrects so many villains. Okay, can’t we just accept they are dead and get on with it!?!

4.) It ruins the main principle of warfare in Star Wars, that the good guys are supposed to be about nature and the bad guys are supposed to be about technology and destruction, not the other way around! Yuuzan vong? Please!

5.) They kill off Chewie! What did that poor Wookie ever do to you authors!

6.) IT DESTROYS GEORGE LUCAS’ VISION! Okay Anakin is the Chosen One! He fullfiled the Prophecy (Return of the Jedi DVD Vader’s Redemption) No, he didn’t kill Palpatine’s clone nor did Palpatine clone himself! First of all, that destroys the character of Palpatine, sure he’s supposed to be clever, but come on, he’s supposed to be Over-Confident! Like in the Prequels, Palpatine only sensed his victory, but at the last minute he sensed his downfall when it was too late! That Vader was turned into a flaming cabob! So how could he sense his own death? And plus, I just hate how people are giing these ridiculous clone therories about the bad guys! Even in The Dark Knight, My friend was wondering, “what if that wasn’t the Joker who got killed, what if that was his decoy?” Oy! Clones this! Decoys that! Clones, clones, clones, CLONES! Just let the Story teller (George Lucas) tell his freaking Story! Okay! But how do you see it? Do you like the Prequels? Do you love to hate them? Do you love the Expanded Universe? Here are some categories:

A.) What do you thnk of the Ewoks?

B.) Do you think Anakin is the Chosen One, or the Evil One?

C.) Who do you think is the main Hero, and the main Villain?

D.) Who’s your favorite character?

E.) Do you love Jar Jar, or Love to Hate him?

F.) What do YOU think of the EU?

G.) What is your favorite moment of the Saga?

Just give your honest opinion. me?

A.) I think the Ewoks play an improtant part in Star Wars! The Battle of Endor was like a David and Goliath moment: If you believe in yourself, trust in your God, you can achieve anything! Same as the Trench run in ANH, Luke didn’t deppend on the technology, he trusted in The Force!

B.) The Chosen One, definetly!

C.) The Skywalkers are the main Heroes, and Palpatine is the main vilain! ’nuff said!

D.) Everyone of them! ‘cept Dooku, Jango Fett, and the Sepratist Leaders. But that’s just me!

E.) I like Jar Jar. He delivers comic relef! And he got me into Star Wars in the first place!

F.) Havn’t you guy noticed it says, “Expanded Universe” emphasis on Universe? Alternate Reality!

G.) Almost everything!

What do you think?

Best answer:

Answer by StarWarsFan229
A) What do I “thnk”? If you mean what do I THINK, then I love them!
B) Chosen One
C) It’s the story of Anakin Skywalker, and he’s the main hero, and Palpatine is the ultimate villain and enemy.
D) I love a lot of them, but my favorite will have to be Darth Maul
E) Jar Jar Binks is AWESOME.
F) LOVE IT
G) I don’t know, it’s so hard to pick!

Answer by RAY G
Philip Olt was an authority on bird calling – use of devices that fake bird calls to attract them to be shot ( see http://www.psolt.com/history.htm )

The phrase comes from his instructional record “Crow Calling” ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUY5nS7UUgA ). He’s saying that crows are cleverer than geese. The actual wording is a variant on the standard phrase “wise beyond the wisdom of his/her years”.

Maritime Attorney Matthew Shaffer Speaks Out About Delaware River Duck Boat Catastrophe

Maritime Attorney Matthew Shaffer Speaks Out About Delaware River Duck Boat Catastrophe

Delaware River at Penn’s Landing

Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) July 8, 2010

Barge hits Tourist “Duck Boat” in the Delaware River: Two Remain Missing — Maritime Lawyer Matthew Shaffer speaks out about tourist vessel safety and what injured parties can do to recover for their losses in the duck boat accident.

About an hour into a 37-person Delaware River tourist excursion aboard a “Duck Boat” named the Resource yesterday things started to go very wrong. An engine fire caused the duck boat to stall out, leaving the tour boat drifting along the Delaware River. Duck boat crewmembers told the passengers not to worry, that a rescue vessel was on the way. However, at around 2:30 p.m., a very large 250-foot barge being pushed by a tugboat slammed into the tourist-laden duck boat vessel.

The barge was owned by the city but operated by contractor K-Sea Transportation to haul sludge from a biofuels plant in Northeast Philadelphia to a recycling plant in Southwest Philly. Ride the Ducks is owned by Herschend Family Entertainment Co., of Norcross, Ga, and their company claims it has never had an accident of this type before.

While the Ride the Ducks tourists sat waiting for the rescue vessel, many did not have on life jackets. Once the tourist boat was struck by the barge, passengers were left scrambling to get their life preservers on. And sadly, not everyone could get the life jackets on in time. The panic coupled with the rapid current made rescue efforts difficult. Until last night, police divers searched for two unaccounted for passengers, young tourists from a Hungarian travel group – a 20-year-old man and a 16-year old girl. The duck boat sank 50 feet to the Delaware River bottom.

35 passengers and a number of crewmembers were rescued from the fast-moving Delaware River current by helicopter and other means. Ten of the passengers were rushed to Hahnemann University Hospital, while others were treated at Penn’s Landing, many at the Independence Seaport Museum.

A “Duck Boat” is an amphibious tour vehicle. A Maritime Lawyer in the Schechter, McElwee, Shaffer & Harris office, Stacey Burke, recalls riding on a Ride the Ducks tour just like this one when she and her family were in Philadelphia just a few years ago. “I was pregnant and my husband and I took our one year-old on the ride to tour the city both in and out of the water. The tour provided us with duck masks and duck whistles to use while we rode around town. We really enjoyed the tour and never gave a moment’s thought to any danger while riding along the river. This duck boat accident definitely raises questions about how often the vessels are inspected, what maintenance work is done, who controls safety plans on these boats, and no distress call made by the tourist boat. How on earth did K-Sea’s captain or other crew not see the Resource before demolishing it?”

Maritime Lawyer Matthew Shaffer of Schechter, McElwee, Shaffer & Harris maintains Duck Boats are dangerous. He cites several incidents.

In 1999, a Duck boat operated by a different company sank rapidly in Lake Hamilton, Ark., as its overhead canopy trapped passengers, leaving 13 dead. The National Transportation Safety Board launched an immediate probe into the Delaware River Duck Boat disaster, and said it would review radio recordings captured by the Coast Guard to reconstruct what happened, interview riders, perform a sight test to determine whether the tugboat operator could have seen the smaller boat, and engage in other investigative measures.

“The injuries one can suffer when being thrown off or evacuated a water vessel often include exposure injuries. In this case, where tourists are so unsuspecting of potential danger, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD will be a common result of the accident for both crew and passengers,” says Shaffer.

Founded in 1964, Schechter, McElwee, Shaffer & Harris has represented clients with maritime personal injury cases for over 45 years. The aggressive trial lawyers have represented thousands and obtained outstanding recoveries for clients, well into the 8-figures in some cases. The team of maritime attorneys has over 100 years of combined experience handling maritime lawsuits all over the world. The lawyers of Schechter, McElwee, Shaffer & Harris can be reached at 713.524.3500, by visiting Twitter and Facebook.

Keeping Muscovy ducks can reduce the insect population in your yard. The Muscovy duck is not one of the popular domesticated breeds of ducks but it can perform domestic purposes, which is why a lot of farmers choose to raise these

Anyone ever notice that we only seem to hear about “Gay Marriage” every couple of years?

January 10th, 2011 5 comments

Question by spire2000: Anyone ever notice that we only seem to hear about “Gay Marriage” every couple of years?
On both sides of the aisle, this issue only seems to pop up as an election year issue. And both sides use it to their advantage — the Republicans that are against Gay Marriage go for the Christian conservative votes, and the Democrats that support it go for the homosexual and liberal votes.

And then, after the election, the issue seemingly gets put away, at least on the national visibility level. The last time the Amendment came up in Congress was 2004, and was such a hot button issue that it was immediately tabled after the election. It was reintroduced again in June 2006, just in time for the campaigns to get rolling and the debate restarted.

It just seems to me that it’s a transparent “decoy” that politicians from both sides use to manipulate/motivate their base. Nothing more.

Hunting ducks is a very popular hunting activity in the world today. Apart from being a hunting activity, it is also a great social event. In fact, it represents an entire range of etiquette rules and cultural standards that a lot of people do not consider. It has an entire culture of its own, including duck hunting assistants and dogs and the proper dress code. There is much cultural significance to duck hunting but it has its own downside representing the worse nature of humans. Whatever the point of view is, one must know everything about duck hunting before coming to any conclusion.

Most developed countries have banned commercial duck hunting so it is practiced mainly as a sporting activity. Duck hunting has been going on since time immemorial. There is evidence that goes to who that duck and geese were hunted even in the Ice age. There are many cave drawings indicating duck hunting as a sound practice in the early human existence. Ice age Europe has many indications of swan and duck hunting on cave walls. Egypt also betrays evidence of early duck hunting through a mural over Khum-Hotpe’s tomb of a man catching ducks swimming in a stream.

With such an international history, this sport enjoys a world wide popularity. The greatest number of ducks can be seen in North America and duck hunting is especially popular here. The ducks mostly use the Mississippi River to migrate and so it is a good idea to duck hunt along the river as it serves as a guide for finding the ducks. Stuttgart is considered to be the duck hunting capital of the world while Arkansas is considered a major hot bed for duck hunting.

Duck hunting has gained a lot of popularity due to its simplicity. It is a relatively simple sport and the tools of this activity are easy to follow, involving a shotgun, a decoy set and a duck call. The trick behind duck hunting is using the duck call and decoy in tandem so that the ducks are lured out into the open towards the decoy. Once the ducks are out in the open and are exposed for the hunt, the firing should begin. Usually such hunts take place in and around streams, rivers, lakes and other water bodies in which ducks are found.

Many aspects, however, contrast the sport of duck hunting. Most waterfowl conservationists agree that hunting any kind of waterfowl harms the environment to a great extent. Most of the wetland and marshlands are shrinking tremendously giving way for criticism that claims that duck hunting diminishes an already endangered habitat. There are a number of organizations that protest against duck hunters regarding this issue.

The popular organization Ducks Unlimited is one such organization. This international organization is a non-profit organization dealing with protection of marshland and waterfowl. This organization sometimes often works along with hunters in order to protect marshlands as well as the life of hunters. Their main goals is to conserve localized duck habitats so that the hunters can continue protected and hunt the ducks in such a way that the survival of the ducks can be enabled allowing them to live in a better place.

Irrespective of this, many hunters neglect this philosophy and do not bother much with protecting the habitats. Instead, they pillage the areas and hunt in places where they should not. Due to this reason, duck hunting has been associated with many controversies. As long as this continues, duck hunting will always have a bad side while many hunters will remain ignorant to organizations like Ducks Unlimited. Duck hunting might go into extinction if hunters and protectors of marshlands do not cooperate.
